Many who see him as a champion of the poor and
powerless, while others who say he is a ruthless
dictator. This decidedly reverent documentary portrait
of Castro takes Americans inside the world of this
charismatic, enigmatic, and controversial Cuban
leader. Featuring exclusive interviews with Castro
himself, along with such luminaries as Alice Walker,
Harry Belafonte, and Sydney Pollack, former and
current US government figures like Arthur Schlesinger,
Ramsey Clark, Wayne Smith, Congressman Charles Rangel,
and close friends including Nobel Prize-winning author
Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Bravo's camera captures him
swimming with bodyguards, visiting his childhood home
and school, joking with Nelson Mandela, Ted Turner and
Muhammad Ali, meeting Elian Gonzalez, and celebrating
his birthday with members of the Buena Vista Social
Club.

Another twisted Danish Dogme treat--in the spirit of
CELEBRATION and BREAKING THE WAVES--finds a young
engaged couple's lives altered when the groom-to-be is
hit by a car and paralyzed. As the doctor in the
hospital consoles the victim's fiance--they grow
closer and more involved, putting his own marriage in
joepardy. Which is ironic, since it was his wife
who caused the accident in the first place.

editor of City Paper.
