I am so looking forward to this week’s film and returning to Cinema Sundays after such a long break. Chinese Sunday morning film clubs are nowhere near as exciting as CSC and more often than not are conducted solely in Mandarin. (I speak here of the language as opposed to the orange.) I am so grateful to Mike Giuliano for hosting last week and also to my colleague Kati Harrison for speaking. Meanwhile, I’m sure you’ve been wondering how was Mantovani’s sumptuous string sound received in the middle kingdom? I can only answer you with enthusiasm that they were bedazzled in Beijing, wowed in Wuhan, stunned in Shanhgai, Schmoozed in Shenzhen, yet merely grateful in Guang Zhou…(these southerners are a tough crowd.)
However, this is now all in the past. I have hung up my Charmaine score forever to devote myself to Cinema Sundays at the noble Charles Theatre.
Our speaker for this week is Rebecca Jessup host and co-producer of CineMaryland. It’s a pleasure to welcome her to Cinema Sundays I know you will enjoy her company.

After a three week hiatus Cinema Sundays is pleased to be back with the Baltimore Premiere of Amazing Grace. I hope you’ve enjoyed your leisurely Sunday mornings, there is much to be said for sleeping in. Delighted as I would be to join you on Sunday, I will be returning from Shanghai having just played two weeks of concerts in China with the Mantovani Orchestra. (I will be happy to answer any questions and yes we did play Charmaine…many times!) During my absence you will be taken care of in the most fastidious ways by the incomparable Mike Giuliano the ace of the CSC staff. Our speaker for Sunday is still TBA but we are scouring the countryside for someone with at least the middle name of Grace.
